Moving from Buildertrend
Buildertrend exports its lists as Excel files from the grid itself. Bring them in this order: clients, cost codes, catalog items, then jobs, so each job finds its client.
Open the list in Buildertrend.
Your client contacts, the Jobs List, Cost Codes or the Cost Catalog. Show every column you want to bring before you export.
Click Export.
It is in the top right corner of any grid that supports it, and downloads an Excel document.
Save the file as CSV.
Open it in Excel or Google Sheets and save it as CSV (comma separated). Import data reads CSV files up to 10 MB.
Open Settings, Import data.
In Groundflag, the owner or an admin picks Buildertrend as the source and what the file holds: Clients, Cost codes, Catalog items or Jobs.
Check the column map.
Job Name, Job Number and Client Name are matched for jobs; Cost Code and Cost Code Title for cost codes; Description, Qty UOM, Cost Each and Part Number for catalog items. For clients, columns with common names such as Name, Email and Phone are matched; check the rest before you go on.
Look at the preview, then import.
Every row shows as ready, skipped or rejected, with the reason, before anything is saved. Records already in Groundflag are left as they are.
What stays in Buildertrend
Schedules, daily logs, photos, bills, invoices and change orders are not imported. Download the files and reports you may need later before you cancel. An estimate you still need can be downloaded as .xlsx from the Proposal Dashboard and rebuilt from a saved estimate template.
Questions
Is importing extra?
No. Import data is part of every plan.
The import says the file is not a CSV.
Buildertrend exports Excel files. Open the file and save it as CSV, then upload that one.
Some jobs were rejected because the client was not found.
A job is linked to the client with the same name as its Client Name. Import the clients first, then the jobs file again; jobs already in are left as they are.
